Biography

Gabriel’s PhD research deals with sculpture at the International Exhibitions in Britain, 1851-1901 and forms part of the AHRC-funded Displaying Victorian Sculpture project. He focuses particularly on changing perceptions of high-art sculptural craft in relation to industry, technology and utility. Gabriel has studied Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite art throughout his academic career. He is also interested in analytic aesthetics and philosophies of representational perception.
