Employability

Employability is not just about employment - it is about gaining the skills, experience and attitude to achieve what you want in life. To help you plan for your future, the University have devised an online Employability Tutorial to help you make the most of your time at the University of York. You can access it online and it's very easy to use. You can work on it in short sections whenever suits you.

Whether you know what you want to do after you graduate, and what to maximise your chances of getting it - or if you don't know, and want some help deciding, the Employability Tutorial will lead you through the process.

Part of the Employability Tutorial is your Employability Plan. Start on this as soon as you can! Share it with your supervisor so that you can discuss your future plans with them and get some advice as you progress through your degree course.

What is an Employability Plan?

This is the space to record the skills you are gaining from your degree, your extra-curricular activities and achievements, and your plans for the future. It will help you to make the most of your time at York, and plan for your future - and it may also help your supervisor when writing references.
