Application Advice

You can make an application for any of our programmes through UCAS. The main application period is between September and January. Applications received after this may be considered if we still have vacancies. When completing your UCAS application on-line, please read the guidance notes and proof read your application carefully. If you run out of space in the supporting evidence section you can complete an additional sheet and send it directly to us, ensuring that your UCAS number is on the top of this sheet.

Your application will be acknowledged when it is received within the department. It will then be put forward for short listing by a panel of academic staff. Please be aware that it may take some time to process your application but we do shortlist and interview regularly in the peak season and try not to keep you waiting for too long.

We will look at your academic qualification, but your supporting evidence is crucial in determining the success of your application. You need to demonstrate your personal qualities, what you understand about the nursing and details of any relevant experience. Each section of your application form is given a score by the panel and we interview all those who score above a minimum.

For all programmes, the interview will take the form of:

  • a group discussion or exercise
  • an individual interview with a member of academic staff, a service representative and in some cases a service user.

All offers will be conditional upon a successful check by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), a health assessment and, where appropriate, you gaining the required qualification or grades. For information on our CRB protocol CRB Check (MS Word , 129kb).

If you are unsuccessful in your application, you can apply to us again but you will have to wait until the next application period (September - January). We are able to give limited feedback to unsuccessful candidates.
