National Police Improvement Agency (NPIA)
The work of police forces is now very varied and specific in ensuring that laws are met and the public are protected. The levels of first aid for the police are streamlined around competencies within modules and these are specific to the officers roles. They are based upon health and first aid emergencies that they may well meet within their spans of duty.
The content ranges from routine first aid, when working out in the streets to specific advanced first aid that might be required whilst dealing with intense emergencies where health staff cannot gain access.
Module 2
Two day course specialised in custody care and includes:
- First aid
- Common medical Emergencies
- Mental ill health issues
Module 3
Two day course specialised in custody care and includes:
- First aid
- Common medical Emergencies
- Mental ill health issues
Module 4
Three day course with role specific care including police operational content.
Module 5
Fire Arms officer course. This is a five day course with annual updates.
- Enhanced skills of airway care
- Major blood loss
- Casualty care in containments
