Student workload depends on the chosen objectives for the module. A few examples of how it has been run are:
- Integrated into the Transferable Skills module in the Department of Electronics
and the University of York - 5/6 lectures covering the main chapters of the study
guide + 3 - 4 hours per lecture to allow students time to do the necessary background
research + 1 day for all groups to publicly present their business plan. The
additional amount of private study time will depend on the enthusiasm and effort
the student put into their idea.
- As a stand alone enterprise module. 11 one-hour tutor led sessions introducing
the chapters of the study guide and providing time for groups to discuss their
findings and was forward. Last session is for groups to present their business
plan.
- York Award. A Saturday morning introduction followed by 3 2-hour evening sessions
with industrial mentors present plus a full Saturday for presentation and judging of
business plans. An additional session has been inserted for training in public speaking.
The additional amount of private study time will depend on the enthusiasm and effort the
student put into their idea, however students are expected to put a minimum of 40 hours
of time into this module.
