Academic Pre-requisites & Level

Pre-requisites

There are no formal academic prerequisites for this module.

Depending on how the module is started the seed idea for the business could be considered a prerequisite although this module has been run with a personal awareness and creativity session as the first, introductory component during which students, in their groups, were introduced to creative idea generation tools with the objective of thinking of and agreeing a business idea.

Another group was piloted where the first activity was a team role preference assessment and discussion which was used as a means of forming teams.

Student level

The module has been designed as a flexible, generic introductory level module. The following examples indicate a range of applications already used:

  • First year undergraduates: integrated into a core transferable skills or group project module
  • All undergraduate and postgraduate: York Award delivery which is open to groups from any academic department and any student level, undergraduate and postgraduate
  • Mature students: As part of a Continuing Education course open to all mature, non-student individuals
