BSECS/CECS Visiting Scholarship 2015 based at York

The Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies at York is pleased to accept applications for its annual Visiting Fellowship for early career researchers, offered in conjunction with the British Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.

The award consists of two parts: from BSECS £400 towards travel, accommodation, and living expenses for one week, with a matching amount from CECS. It will normally involve the Fellow in using the time to conduct research using resources in and around the university or with its external partners and the preparation of a workshop based on the applicant’s research in which CECS staff and students will be involved.

The Fellowship is open to scholars of the ‘long’ eighteenth century (or any part of it) in any discipline. This award is open to early career researchers: any doctoral student at a British university in their second year of study and above, and any post-doctoral researcher normally resident in Britain, within five years of the award of their PhD.

Deadline for applications: 17 January 2015. The award must be taken up in the period March 1 to June 30 (subject to negotiation with the Centre).

The application should take the form of a (1-2 pages) statement of research, including an account of its relevance to work currently going on in CECS, including recent and forthcoming conference themes or the research of CECS staff, and a proposal for a workshop. Please send completed applications, and a CV (1-2 pages), by email to Professor Jon Mee, Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies, University of York. jon.mee@york.ac.uk.
