The Proteomics & Analytical Biochemistry Labs share space and equipment in the Technology Facility. Together, they provide a suite of services based on state-of-the-art mass spectrometry available through the University of York's new Centre of Excellence in Mass Spectrometry. Our five staff member have years of experience in mass spectrometry, especially as applied to proteomics and carbohydrate characterization. Please contact us to discuss any of services we offer.
IMS is an exciting new application of mass spectrometry that allows spatial resolution of compounds in tissues. Biomolecules such as proteins, peptides, drug candidate compounds and their metabolites, biomarkers or other chemicals can be localized within tissue slices. Using mass spectrometry obviates the need for specific labels or tags to localize compounds and permits a hypothesis-free approach to biomarker discovery. (See link on left.)
