Biolhelp is located in room A003. This is across the corridor from the Vanbrugh entrance to the teaching laboratories. If I am in then the door will be unlocked, so don't hang around the outside, try the door and come in! I am around most of the time but please remember that I am a solo outfit and provide It support throughout the Department so may not be in the office. The outer office has two pc's. One connected to a scanner for any specialist work that you may need to do and a second that is connected directly to the campus network.
Printer credit and lost passwords can also be sorted out from this office. If your enquiry is not urgent or I am not around please use the biolhelp e-mail address and I'll sort out your problem on my return.

Lost passwords? Need printer credit?

Passwords: Should you forget your Biology Department Novell password then you I can do this for you if you come and find me in the A003. (For obvious reasons I am not prepared to change passwords over the telephone). Alternatively you can find Sue Firth & Christine Kelly in the teaching who will be able to reset this for you. Please do not pester them if they are busy with other tasks.
Sadly we are unable to change your computing service password if you forget that. You will have to go to their helpdesk for them to reset this for you.

Printer Credit: Current printing charges in Biology are:
4p for the black & white printers
30p for the colour printer. ( Please remember that as there is only one colour printer that you plan ahead if you are going to include colour printing for a class report, this printer can get very busy when deadlines are approaching).

Undergraduates are issued with £12 of printer credit at the start of the course. This is to cover essential coursework printing. Once this has been used you must pay for any further printing yourself.
You can recharge you printer credit balance by finding me. I should be able to credit your account promptly, (there is no minimum amount). Or you can leave the amount you wish crediting plus your user name with any of the teaching technicians if it is not urgent. Your account will be credited that day. It would be helpful if you have the correct change. Once again please remember not to pester them if they are busy with other tasks.
I do however stress that you should plan ahead and not leave recharging your printer balance until you have run out of credit and you have a deadline looming. We cannot guarantee to be available all the time, so avoid the last minute panic and plan ahead.
