Elgar Romance for bassoon
Martinu Double Concerto for flute and violin
Beethoven Symphony no. 8 in F op. 98
Beethoven's effervescent symphony is well known, but this concert includes two rarities that should not be missed: Elgar's Romance is a short and poetic work for solo bassoon and Martinu's subtle pairing of flute and violin soloists is irresistible. The concert opens with this year's commission for the Chamber Orchestra.
