Redevelopment of support departments' web pages

At the Registrar's Department Awayday on 30th April 2008 an innovative new project was announced which will coordinate web information owned by the Directorate of Facilities Management, Finance Department and Registrar's Department.

Instead of focusing on office home pages as the hub of all information about a specific topic, the intention is to present the information in themes, bringing together content owned by different support offices who each manage different aspects of a topic. Consequently, it will be much easier for users to find the information that they are looking for.

This is a large-scale project which cuts across the boundaries of different offices and will mean more joint working and cooperation in the presentation of content.

The project will start in spring 2009 when working groups will be set up to focus on themes, identify content needed by different audiences and group it together. The Communications Office will work on the structure and presentation of themes and ensure they are thoroughly user-tested before content starts to be moved across into the Web CMS.

The main contact for the project in the Web Office is Dan Wiggle - dan.wiggle@york.ac.uk.
