Preparing your website for the Web CMS

This section explains the work you need to do to get your site ready to go into the Web CMS and the support available to make this quicker and easier.

Many departments have a large and complex site, which means preparing a website for migration takes time. We are here to support you in producing a clear, easy-to-follow website which meets your users' needs.

This is an opportunity to:

  • make things easier to find, both for authors and users
  • review and update the site's content
  • remove and archive out of date information
  • decide who manages individual sections or pages
  • ensure departmental web staff work closely with their colleagues who create other publicity materia
  • build a website which the department can be proud of and which will save staff time.  For example, the website can be used to host the answers to a range of FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).
