A department’s name should be referred to as ‘the Department of…’. For example:
The Department of Physics not Physics Department

There are exceptions:
The Environment Department, the York Law School and the York Management School

In any marketing literature or on the front and title page of reports, the department name must appear all on one line. For example:
The Department of Physics
not
The Department of
Physics
When the department’s name is particularly long, it may be set on two lines. For example:
Centre for Renaissance
and Early Modern Studies

The words must be styled in one font only.
The name of the department should not be positioned too close to the University of York logo (see Using the logo).
