Single Standard study bedroom facilities

Each study bedroom contains:

• a 3ft x 6ft 3inch bed with mattress
• a washbasin
• a desk & chair and desk lamp
• a wardrobe, shelves, a pin board on the wall & a waste bin
• internet connection provided by university wireless network

Bathrooms

The house has bathrooms, toilets and shower rooms for the 13 residents in Standard rooms to share. In total there are 2 shower rooms with toilet, 1 bathroom with toilet and 1 shower room with separate toilet next door.

There are also 4 Ensuite rooms.

Kitchens

Walmgate has a large open plan extremely well equipped social dining kitchen, rennovated in Spring 2012. In addition there are also 2 small pantry kitchens on the 1st & 2nd floor, suitable for making a quick snack or a hot drink. The main kitchen is shared by all residents. The kitchen contains:

• 2 large fridge/freezers
• 2 sinks
• 2 ovens with 4 ring hob and extractor fans above
• 1 kettle & microwave
• Several general storage cupboards & drawers
• 1 lockable storage cupboard per person

Shared facilities

Walmgate shared facililties

 The accommodation has:

• a large social dining kitchen, refurbished in 2012
• bathrooms/showers & toilets
• laundry, washing & drying facilities
• Cleaning equipment, including a vacuum cleaner, mops, buckets, dustpans and brushes, black bags
• Shared telephone access for the house
• Cycle storage
• Wireless internet connection throughout

Not available at Walmgate:

• No car parking

Cleaning

Cleaning & Recycling

You are resonsible for cleaning your own bedroom, but your shared bathrooms and kitchens are cleaned by cleaning services.

Bathroom Cleaning

The shared bathrooms, toilets and showers are checked daily and cleaned as appropriate according to the service level agreement.

Kitchen Cleaning

The day of the weekly kitchen clean will be publicised on your kitchen noticeboard. Please check the service level agreement below to see what you should be doing and what is the responsiblity of your cleaners.

If you do not maintain the kitchen to a reasonable standard, the cleaners may not be able to clean the kitchen and you and your housemates will be fined.  We recomend you & your housemates all sign up to a rota to make sure all the daily tasks are done.  Your tutors will help you with this and provide you with rotas for your noticeboards.

Rubbish and recycling

Colour coded recycling containers for paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and cans are provided, and you will be given details of the location of your recycling and rubbish points on moving in.
