Lost property found in the College is usually handed in to the porters and kept at reception until it can be taken over to the Security Centre. For items left in residence blocks at the end of the term or the end of the year, please contact the College Administrator.
Student and staff are advised to mark their belongings (phones/memory sticks/cameras/note-pads) with their university email address to enable to Security Centre to return items to their owners.

Non-resident undergraduates can apply to the College Administrator for a non-resident's keycard to allow them access to the JCR, mail-room, and bike shed.
There are various quiet study areas available for non-resident students. Mature students and undergraduates who are commuting from home in their first year may have access to the Graduate & Mature Student Common Room, and its ajoining kitchen. Please speak to the College Administrator for further details.
The welfare team is there for non-residents as well as residents. If you have any concerns, please feel free to speak to any member of the College Welfare Team.
For residents of Donald Barron and Barbara Scott Courts, Royal Mail will make deliveries to the post-boxes allocated to each flat and found on the ground floor of each house. A key for these boxes should be obtained by residents on their arrival. For residents of Le Page Court, Royal Mail will make deliveries to Vanbrugh Reception and porters will sort letters into pigeon holes in the Vanbrugh mail room. Any mail sent by registered post or recorded delivery, parcels or items that appear to hold money or bank cards, will be held at Reception for collection, and the addressee’s name will be added to a list in the Reception window. Personal ID will be required before items are released. For residents of Fairfax House, Royal Mail will make deliveries to the Fairfax House Reception where post will be sorted into the foyer pigeon holes. For residents of the Fulford Road properties, Royal Mail will deliver directly to the flats.
All Vanbrugh College members (resident and non-resident) are advised to check the mail room opposite Vanbrugh Reception on a regular basis, even if they are not resident on campus, as internal mail will be delivered to the College and not to the student’s residence. Non-residents without a keycard should ask the porter on duty for access, and will be asked for ID showing College membership. Any mail that has been left in the mail room for longer than 3 months will be returned to sender. Please ensure that you leave a forwarding address with the College Administrator or with the Porters when you leave the University.
Vanbrugh Porters also lend out trolleys for the transport of luggage, and is the collection place for residence keys. Pigeon holes are kept in the lodge for Vanbrugh College staff should you need to pass on any papers.

If students have lost their key or keycard, they should go to Vanbrugh Reception to get a replacement. Any reception can issue a replacement keycard, however, hard keys must be obtained from Vanbrugh Reception. Outside of Vanbrugh Reception's opening hours, residents should go to Wentworth Reception to obtain a spare key.
The porters will ask the student to complete a Vanbrugh Lost Keycard Form then make a new keycard or go to Vanbrugh Reception to retrieve a replacement key.
All Lost Keycard Forms will go over to Vanbrugh Reception the following morning where they will be sent up to the College Administrator for charging if the keys or keycard are not returned to VANBRUGH Reception within 24 hours. Returned keys or keycards can be posted through the door or put into the letter box, provided they have a note as to whom they are from and which room number.
If you are off campus or nervous about walking to Wentworth Reception late at night, you can telephone Reception on 3200 (which will automatically redirect to Wentworth Reception out of hours) from the nearest internal phone in your residence block. The porters will then come to you.
BBQs are permitted on University property, ONLY in the brick built BBQ areas, of which Vanbrugh's is at Donald Barron Court. If you wish to hold a BBQ please inform, the College Administrator or your tutor before-hand. Please ensure that you obey the rules posted at the BBQ sites.
Persons are permitted to light disposable barbecues on the designated barbecue stands only.
Any person lighting a barbecue outside of the agreed designated area without permission from the Provost will be subject to disciplinary action.
Never use liquid fuel to start your barbecue; use only approved solid fuel lighter blocks.
Never leave a barbecue unattended.
After cooking ensure the barbecue is cool before trying to dispose of it.
Steel bins are provided adjacent to the barbecue site to aid safe disposal.
In the event of an emergency your barbecue should be extinguished using water. Do not use extinguishers from residential buildings
