College sport

A wide variety of College sports are available to choose from and it has been the aim of the JCR to ensure that every member of Vanbrugh has the opportunity to get involved with sporting activities, even if it is just to join in with the yearly sports day event, which is a fun and stressless homage to the old fashioned school sports day.

College sport is an accessible way for students to get involved with sport and fitness without having to join the more serious University sports teams, and students of all skill levels are invited to get involved. However, Vanbrugh sport can also be very competitive.  There are weekly training sessions to prepare for matches with other College Teams, as well as intensive one-day tournaments. The individual league results are collated every year to determine the winner of the renowned Inter-college Sports Cup, for which Vanbrugh has proved to be a strong competitor.

Success stories 2012-13

Will you be one of them?

So far...

Vanbrugh came 3rd in the Rugby one-day Tournament and has three strong football teams this year that have been doing really well in the College League.

Vanbrugh hosted its first Muggle Quidditch Tournament on Saturday 9th March.

Success stories 2011-12

Vanbrugh came 5th overall this year. Well done and thank you to all who took part in college sport.

Other key achievements to highlight include the Football team who won the Doxbridge 2011 sports competition in Dublin (against Oxford, Cambridge and Durham); and their top two of the five teams also made it through to the Inter-College Cup and Inter-College Plate Football finals respectively.

Additionally, the Darts team won the Inter-College Darts League.
