Arrivals 2012

As a large number of students are arriving on the same day, your designated arrival day/time is shown below. Student helpers will be on hand on undergraduate arrivals day to give directions.

Accommodation at Langwith College is not available before your specified arrival date/time. Please do not arrive early as your room will not be available to you.

  • Postgraduates: arrival day is 29th September from 9.30am
  • Returning undergraduates (not first years): arrival day is 29th September from 9.30am
  • International undergraduates: 3rd October from 9.30am.  Please refer to the pages for international students for more information on where and at what time you will be met by University representatives.
  • Undergraduates: 7th October

Please note that due to the size of the College arrivals times are staggered. It is important that you only arrive between the times stated for your Court as parking is limited:

Philip Brockbank Court - between 9am and 11am.

Sydney Smith Court - between 11am and 1.15pm.

Gordon & Francesca Horsfield Court - between 2.15pm and 4pm.

 If for any reason it is impossible for you to arrive at the time allocated please contact the College Administrator(suzanne.dekker@york.ac.uk).

The first day of term is 8th October 2012 so you should be in residence by then.

All residents must attend both the Provost's talk and fire safety briefings. 

Please come to the Ron Cooke Hub to collect your keys.

The College is self-catered and it is recommended that you bring sufficcient amounts of essential items to last you for a few days. 

Bedding Packs

Bedding packs are available to pre-order by EU and International student only. 

Car parking

If you are arriving by car you will need some time to register, collect your keys, unload your vehicle and transfer your belongings to your room.  You will be directed to the car park by a member of the Security Team.  Our Second and Third Year Contacts (STYCs) will help you with your luggage and take you to your room. 

We have some trolleys available to borrow on arrivals day from the Langwith Centre Building. You will be charged a £20 deposit if you wish to borrow a trolley.  Please be aware that there is high demand for these so prompt return is appreciated so that others can make use of them.

Parking is limited and the campus is unusually busy during arrivals weekend.  We ask that residents and their familites vacate the car park as quickly as possible so that all residents are able to move into their rooms without excessive delay.
