James College strives to be a truly international college and a relaxed environment for international and cultural exchange.
The college provides support for small events each term where members of the college can introduce others to aspects of their culture. This can be through music, film, art, literature or any other medium, and students often enjoy giving practical, hands on demonstrations, shared with a sample of authentic cuisine. James also hosts a unique exchange programme with Morningside College at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The first Morningside students arrived at James in 2011, and students from James are spending time in Hong Kong for summer programmes and full exchange from July 2012.
James is very proud of its internationally and culturally diverse community, and we want to foster that spirit in our students. To this end representatives from the JCR and the college go the extra mile to make sure students arriving from outside the UK have everything they need at James, from the first week to graduation.
The College not only seeks to foster an international community at York, but we also encourage our students to embrace opportunities for studying all around the world. To hear about some of our students' experiences abroad, follw this link:
