For prospective students

Prospective students tend to have many questions before they arrive at York. We want to help ease your anxieties and prepare you for living independently in York.

We hope you experience a very warm welcome to Halifax from continuing students, the HCSA and College staff.  We aim to make the transition from school/home to University as smooth as possible and we have a well developed college welfare team on hand to provide help and advice to any student who may need some support.

If, after reading information provided on this website and in the current Halifax College Handbook 2011-12 (PDF , 3,364kb) you still have questions about living at Halifax College, please do not hesitate to contact the College Administrator. The 2012-13 handbook will be published shortly.

Please be aware that the period immediately following publication of A Level results each summer is exceptionally busy, so please be patient and, if you are able to wait until the following week to make contact, your questions will be answered more quickly.

New students

The pages you are looking at now are intended, principally, for prospective students, who are in the process of selecting a college in the University of York, as well as the students who are considering applying to the University and are researching York's collegiate system.

Pages for new Halifax College members, explaining what you need to do before you get here and when you arrive, will be published in the beginning of September.
