Halifax College shield

All of us at Halifax College are excited about the arrival of the new student cohort in September/October 2012. As we are preparing for your arrival, this section of the website is intended to help you to prepare too and to ensure that moving in is enjoyable and goes smoothly for all of our new and returning residents. With nearly a thousand students moving in, we ask all future residents to review instructions and advice in this section thoroughly before setting off for York.

Please continue checking this section of the website on the regular basis as we are updating and expanding the content.

Arrival Dates & Instructions

This section lists the dates when new and returning residents can move into their new accommodation in the College. The dates are different depending on your accommodation, course and country you are coming from.

Please consider this information very carefully when planning your arrival. In particular, please do not arrive before the specified date as your room will not be ready for occupation and you will be required to find a hotel or bed & breakfast accommodation in the local area until your move in date.

Weather Update

As you may have seen on the national news the city of York has been affected by heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding this week. We would like to inform all new students arriving on Saturday and Sunday that the University campus is unaffected and moving-in arrangements for all students remain as planned and advertised on this website and in our e-mails to new students.

There has been some impact on local roads through the city centre and on rail travel to and from York. If you are travelling by road you may wish to allow more time for your journey as well as avoid York city centre. If you are travelling by rail, please check the National Rail Enquiries website to see if your journey is affected.
