Arrivals 2016

Starting university can be an immensely exciting but also challenging experience.  As such, we want your move to Goodricke College to go as smoothly as possible.

When should I arrive?

All students will be able to arrive between 9 am and 4 pm on the chosen day:

  • Returning Undergraduate Students can arrive from Saturday 10 September 2016
  • Postgraduate Students should arrive from Monday 19 September 2016
  • New Undergraduate International/EU Students can arrive on Friday 23 or Saturday 24 September 2016
  • New Undergraduate Home Students must arrive on Saturday 24 September 2016

On arrivals day all keycards should be collected from The Nucleus, Goodricke College.  If you do not arrive on the designated arrivals day you should collect your keycard from Reception in the Ron Cooke Hub which is open 24/7.

Go to Getting Here to get directions to Goodricke College.

What should I do when I arrive?

If you are arriving by car, please park in the car park just above Goodricke  College. We ask that you leave all of your luggage in the car to begin with, and collect your welcome information from The Nucleus building. Second and Third Year Contacts (STYCs) will be on hand to guide you.

If you are arriving by bus from the train station or the airport you will be dropped off at the side of the college.

All of our student helpers will be wearing green Goodricke t-shirts so if you do need some help let one of them know.

In The Nucleus Building

Once you arrive at The Nucleus building you will be given your key card for your room and your University card for new students.

You will then be guided to your room by a STYC. This is an opportunity for you to get a feel for the college, the buildings and more importantly, see where your room is!

Moving in to your room

Once you have found your room and you are happy with where everything is you can move in.  You will receive a Welcome brochure which will contain some key information that you will need to read.

If you arrived by car, you will be directed from the car park to the side of the college where you can unload your belongings.

In order to ease traffic congestion, we ask that you unload all of your luggage at this point.

There will be lots of student helpers around to get you moved in so if you need help, please do ask.

Information for parents and guardians

On arrivals day, there will be welcome talks for parents and guardians held by the Assistant Head of College. There will also be hot drinks available. There are also food outlets available on campus.

Once students have accepted their rooms, they will be sent more information about starting at York, but if you have any questions, please e-mail
