Alumni

"Still friends with my 'A' block neighbours & others. What a place! Changed our lives forever."

Penny Molley (1971-74)

Many friendships forged in Derwent last a lifetime. We hope that you feel that you are "Derwent till I die..." and that Derwent will still feel like home when you visit us.

Alumni, especially those based in York, are invited to become members of the SCR and attend social events in the college. Please contact Chris Unwin for details of SCR membership.

Keep in touch with Derwent College and other alumni by joining us on Facebook. College and JCRC photographs are mounted on the Derwent College site, so please tag yourself and your friends. The Derwent Old Boys/Girls group on Facebook will keep you informed of Derwent alumni reunions.

Alumni weekends

Please do come and visit us. The College, the Derwent Old Boys/Girls network, and the University's Development and Alumni Relations Office all organise alumni weekends.

Derwent Day

On 7th November 2009 we held our first Derwent Day to bring together alumni, staff and students to celebrate all things Derwent, and the contribution of Ron Weir in particular. The weekend focussed on bringing together Derwentians from different generations through a drinks reception, dinner and ceilidh.

We will hold another Derwent Day on 6th November 2010 to inaugurate the Garden for Ron which alumni and students have created in memory of Ron Weir. Alumni are invited to help plant fruit trees in the garden in the afternoon. There will be a chance for students to network informally with alumni in careers they are interested in. The SCR will host an informal supper before a drinks reception with the JCR and the chance to relive your Derwent days at Club D.

Derwent Old Boys/Girls weekend

A sporting and social weekend in May in which alumni take on current students at sporting challenges. These usually include football, netball, darts, pool and cricket. Join the Derwent Old Boys/Girls facebook group for more information.

University Alumni Weekend

The Development and Alumni Relations Office of the University organises an Alumni weekend in May. The event is open to all but alumni who graduated 10, 25 and 40 years before are invited for class reunions.
