College Provostships are part-time positions and the Provost Tony Ward is also a member of staff in the Electronics Department. The Deputy Provost is Penn Snowden who is also the Manager of the Disability Services within the University. Whilst often to be found in the College during the day and at weekends, it is sometimes better to arrange an appointment through the College Administrator if you wish to see the Provost or Deputy Provost.
In an emergency, or if you are a student and you find yourself in serious personal difficulty, you can contact the Provost or Deputy Provost at any time through the College Administrator on 3313 (323313 externally) or the Porter’s Reception on 3300 (323300 externally).

Mrs Ashton has an office on the first floor of the reception block (D Block) in room D/165. Her internal telephone number is 3313 and her email is sheila.ashton@york.ac.uk. Her working hours are 10-4.30 Monday to Friday.
The College Administrator provides the first point of contact for enquiries from residents on accommodation and general College matters. Within this broad remit responsibilities include:

The FM, whilst not a member of College staff as such, is the person responsible for the buildings, cleaning, recycling, grounds, and the physical infrastructure in general. The FM plays a central role in College life and helps sort out problems relating to the estate. |

Porters are on duty in Alcuin College 24 hours per day most days of the year. The Porters play a central role in College life and can help in sorting out a great many problems including noise in the night, maintenance problems, key issue, mail handling and general security issues. If the Porters cannot help they will refer you to someone who can.
In the case of an emergency or where first aid is needed with the College, the Porters should be your first point of contact.
