The College system at York

The Colleges are an important part of how the University as a whole works.  The Colleges provide students and staff with a ‘home’ for life, a place where you can meet others and a network for social interactions.

The Colleges alongside the Academic Departments and University Support Service providers

As far as students are concerned, the College provides an important source of help and advice that is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Help and advice is available on any matter that troubles you and whilst we may not have an immediate answer, we always know someone who can help you.  The Colleges work alongside  the Academic and University Service Support staff to make your time at the University a happy, successful and memorable time.

All parts of the University are here to support you in achieving your maximum academic potential within a community of like-minded people. In addition to your academic studies you will work and live with others and hence develop your social skills; you will be provided with a unique opportunities to engage with sporting and society activities of all shapes and sizes; and finally, there are opportunities to develop your study, enterprise, employability and professional skills.  The College, like the acadmic departments can help you choose and find your particular blend of skills you wish to acquire whilst you are part of our community.
