Centre for Chronic Diseases and Disorders (C2D2)

CII scientists are collaborating with colleagues across a range of Departments in developing the new Centre for Chronic Diseases and Disorders (C2D2)

Structure-based drug design of an anti-Alzheimer's compound

C2D2 is an institution-wide 'virtual centre', coordinating the University of York's wide-ranging research into infectious and non-infectious chronic diseases and disorders (including mental health). This is an area of study which impacts on the lives of billions of people world-wide and one which transcends many traditional boundaries in science and medicine.

The Centre's work is supported by an Institutional Strategic Support Fund award from the Wellcome Trust. The award offers financial support for universities to enhance institutional strategies for the biomedical sciences. C2D2's own strategy for success will be driven forward by investment in four areas: fostering interdisciplinarity, innovation and translation, capacity building and strength from partnership.
