At a counselling session, you will have the opportunity to discuss the options available with one of our teaching staff. For Cambridge courses, you will usually be required to do a short test, though students with IELTS or TOEFL test scores may be placed on courses without the need for further testing.
The provisional weeks for counseling are as follows:
Autumn Term Weeks 1 and 2 (10–21 October)
Spring Term Weeks 1 and 2 (9–20 January)
Summer Term Week beginning 16 April
Please note that, for those who are not using ELPs, payment must be made in advance to secure a place. Payment can be made by card, cheque or in cash at the CELT office.
Registration for consultations can be done by initially contacting Chris Copland, who will liaise on finding a suitable tutor who can meet you at a mutually convenient time. Chris can be contacted at:
Extension 3686

You can withdraw from a course or workshop without penalty provided you notify CELT at least one week before the course or workshop is due to begin. In this case, your ELPs or fees will be refunded in full. We will not refund your ELPs or fees if you cancel your registration in the week before the course or workshop.
You may withdraw from a consultation without penalty so long as you notify us at least 24 hours in advance. No refunds will be given for cancellations less than 24 hours in advance.
Our average class contains 14 to 16 students. We reserve the right to cancel groups if enrolment is less than eight.
We are happy to issue Letters of Completion for courses and workshops on students’ request. Just contact the CELT Administrator (phone extension 2480 or email celt@york.ac.uk ). To be eligible for a letter, you must have attended at least 75 percent of the course sessions and adequately completed all assigned tasks.
