As well as constructing brand new Goodricke and Langwith College facilities on Heslington East, the summer of 2010 saw the start of a phased refurbishment of student accommodation across Heslington West which will continue for years to come.
An initial investment of over £2 million has been made to upgrade kitchens, bedrooms and living areas. In total around 770 bedrooms in Derwent, Halifax and St Lawrence have been remodelled in the last few years.
The new designs and furniture have been chosen in consultation with students and college Provosts, proving comfortable sleeping and study areas with storage and washing facilities.
These refurbishments form part of our continued investment in improving facilities and social spaces for students studying at York.
Below are artist impressions of how the bedrooms will look following refurbishment. The idea will be to roll out this design to bedroom accross the Heslington West campus.
