York Sport Village is a new £9 million sports facility on Heslington East that's open to staff and students of the University of York as well as members of the general public.
This extension of University's first class sports provision features a competition-standard, eight lane, 25 metre pool; learner pool, full size 3G Astroturf pitch and three further five-a-side pitches.
Indoor facilities include a 100-station computerised fitness suite, floor space for classes such as spinning and yoga; three specialist treatment rooms, sauna and steam rooms and a cafeteria.
York Sport Village has been co-funded, with the University contributing £5 million, York City Council contributing £3 million and the remainder raised through sporting grants from organisations such as Sport England.
This incredible facility expands the sporting provison provided by York Sport.
Future considerations for York Sport Village include cycle and running tacks. Further improvements and expansion of sporting facilities based on Heslington West also feature in our plans for sport at York.
