The York Management School occupies a new state-of the art building, shared with York Law School, on the Heslington East development.
The building houses the Management School’s departmental and research offices together with knowledge transfer facilities. Lecture and seminar spaces, including a Harvard style lecture theatre, and a coffee bar are on the ground floor.
The York Management School has 415 undergraduate and 120 postgraduate students and is experiencing rapid growth. It has strong teaching and research links with the Department of Computer Science, and it is developing a number of joint courses with the York Law School.
The school combines research excellence, embedded in the wider social sciences, with high standards in teaching, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our staff are committed to advance knowledge using evidence-based research that critically informs intellectual and policy agendas at national and international levels.
The York Management School's multi-disciplinary approach establishes innovative links between areas of study within management in response to the developing global business and policy agendas.
The University has been fortunate in securing some £17.5 million from the European Regional Development Fund in Yorkshire and the Humber. The funds, managed through Yorkshire Forward, provide £15.5 million for capital development on Heslington East and a further £2 million supporting two University biodemonstrator research projects. The investment forms a critical part of a major £19.4 million infrastructure project sponsored by Science City York, enhancing links between York's world-class science base and industry.
