Student accommodation refurbishment

As well as laying the foundations for a brand new 650 bed Langwith College on Heslington East, this summer sees the start of a phased refurbishment of student accommodation across Heslington West.

An investment of over £2 million is being made to upgrade kitchens, bedrooms and living areas. In total around 770 bedrooms in Derwent, Halifax and St Lawrence will be remodelled.

The new designs and furniture have been chosen in consultation with students and college Provosts, proving comfortable sleeping and study areas with storage and washing facilities.

These refurbishments form part of our continued investment in improving facilities and social spaces for students studying at York. See Enhancing the student experience and YUSU development for more information on our plans for making a difference to student life.

Concepts for bedrooms

Below are artist impressions of how the bedrooms will look following refurbishment. The idea will be to roll out this design to bedroom accross the Heslington West campus.
