Freshers becomes the Library cafe
Freshers, the snack bar next to the Library, has closed and work is underway to renovate and re-launch this facility as part of the latest phase of the Library refurbishment project.
Reopening under the name of the Library Cafe, the new establishment promotes the University’s vision for creating combined catering, social and learning spaces. The new Library Cafe will serve coffee along with a selection of light bites and will remain open into the early evening.
A dedicated vending machine station will also be on site to ensure that a food and drink service is available to students around the clock.
There will be improved access to the Cafe as students and staff will be able to enter through the Library as well as the traditional entrance on the side.
The new layout shown here in the floor plan for library cafe (PDF 
, 846kb) means it will be possible to close certain parts of the Cafe while keeping open other sections, allowing different catering provision throughout the day depending on the demand.
The refurbished Library Cafe will open in early 2012.
