Students from EU countries form an important part of York's friendly and vibrant university community. If you come to York, you can be sure that you will be warmly welcomed both at the University and in the city, that you will have access to first class educational facilities in a supportive environment and that when you graduate you will have a qualification which is recognized throughout the world.
The University of York has a tradition of attracting both domestic and overseas students to its master’s programmes. These programmes follow the standard UK approach of 12 months, intensive study rather than the two academic years more generally found in other European countries. The compatibility of the UK’s masters programmes with Bologna was recently reviewed by the Academy of Medical Sciences with the conclusion that they were compliant. A key conclusion was:
“The widespread acceptance for including learning outcomes into the criteria for assessment, and the alignment of the UK qualifications framework with that of the European Higher Education Authority, demonstrates that UK master’s degrees are compatible with the Bologna Process.
In the current economic climate, undertaking a one year master’s course is particularly attractive, allowing students to undertake a shorter and more intensive course and not to incur the greater cost of a two year degree for example.”
