Add a column to your spreadsheet for the phase code (Appendix 1.6, column 'Phase').
Print phase lists sorted by contexts, showing also sub-group, group and land use codes (e.g. FIX01.co.sg.gr.lu.ph.xls), or sorted by phase (FIX01.ph.lu.gr.sg.co.xls). For the preparation of the report you need also a file of context descriptions sorted by phase, land use and group (FIX01.ph.codescr.xls (Appendix 1.8).
Add phase numbers to all groups of land use. If you have sub-phases, your database will have to be programmed to enable searching for decimal numbers.
As you have now understood the entire project sequence you can seriously start writing the text of the stratigraphic sequence. With the help of your phased Excel lists you can easily extract context descriptions, you can include or leave behind as much information as you need to explain your points of view and as suits your research design and as is digestible for the reader. Use the phase summary table (Table 27) as a guidance to show that every item is described in its right place.
