Add a column to your spreadsheet for the land use code (Appendix 1.6, column 'Land use').
Print land use lists sorted by contexts, sub-groups and groups (e.g. FIX01.ABE.co.sg.gr.lu.xls), or vice versa (FIX01.ABE.lu.gr.sg.co.xls), or for all trenches (FIX01.ALL.lu.gr.sg.co.xls).
The database entries at this stage combine groups to form types of land use. The same entry panel asks also for a processual interpretation, which refers to the main land use activity either as construction, use or disuse (or, depending on the processual code of their group contents, of a mixture of several processes). This interpretation refers to entire buildings, rooms, structures, open areas etc (Table 23). From a common database for finds and stratigraphic data you can print out lists, combining groups and land use with their dating evidence or their special finds assemblages.
Copy the relevant group discussions in order of land use and discuss in preparation of the next step, which types of land use could belong to one phase.
