PC3B: Study and Conservation of Vernacular Buildings - Brick and Timber

Thursday and Friday, 2 - 3 February 2012

This two-day course will explore the concept of vernacular buildings, both in the UK and other cultural traditions, and discuss their place in the more general history of architecture. Delegates will gain familiarity with the principal materials from which these buildings are constructed (in particular brick and timber), the craft skills involved in their construction, appropriate methods of repair. Consideration of their role as part of the sustainable heritage will be explored.
