For the National Student Survey 2009, students were asked whether they agreed with 21 statements about the quality of their degree programmes divided into six sections. The scores for Archaeology (and ranking of the 21 Archaeology Departments) for each category are:

With an average score of 92% across all areas, York ranked 1st overall.

The Department also was awarded a 'perfect' score (24/24) by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education
