Living costs
For Home students from England and Northern Ireland, there is government support towards your living costs:
- the Student Loan for Maintenance – a maximum of £4,950 each year. The loan is repaid after you leave university and are earning more than £15,000 per year.
- a Maintenance Grant of up to £2,906 that will be given to students with household income of £50,002 or less. There will be a sliding scale, with students on household income of under £25,000 receiving the full £2,906 and those above £50,002 receiving £0. The Maintenance Grant does not have to be repaid.
Help from the Access to Learning Fund
If you fall into financial hardship after you come to university, you may be able to receive help from the Access to Learning Fund (ALF) or other sources.
