Tuition fees

For Visiting Students paying fees directly to the University, the following full-time rates will apply for 2009/10: -

Students from within the European Union: £3,225

Students from outside the European Union:

Full year: £10,271

Single term: £3,424

Two terms: £6,847

These fees include tuition, supervision and examination charges as well as the provision of a transcript.

Additional fees are charged for Languages for All and for English Language courses.

Special arrangements apply for some schemes where students pay fees direct to their home university, or who come to York through certain third party providers. If you are uncertain about the fees which apply to you, contact the International Office.

Living Expenses

Living on a student budget is easier at York than at many universities. Accommodation costs are relatively low and if you live on campus, you can save on transport costs which can be very expensive in other cities. Other cost-saving options include a range of second-hand bookstores, student nights at most York clubs and NUS discounts at many local shops.

Please see our sample budget [MSWord Document 51Kb] to give you an idea of possible living costs. This is only intended to be a guide, because individual students' living expenses differ depending on their own lifestyle and choice of accommodation. Some students will spend more than others on, for example, social activities, phone calls or clothes.
