Statutory and compliance training
The University is committed to ensuring it is both compliant with law and adopts good practice. We seek to provide an environment which minimises risk to the University, its staff, students and visitors.
This is the key motivation behind the introduction of this statutory and compliance training programme. Its aim is ensuring that people are receiving the support appropriate to their role.
What training is required?

What action do I need to take?
- Complete the online diversity module if you have not done so since April 2009
- Complete the online Data Protection including information legislation module
- New starters
- You should work with your line manager to identify your appropriate statutory and compliance training needs during your induction period
- Existing staff
- Familiarise yourself with the statutory and compliance guideline and review the programmes currently available.
- Agree with your line manager the programmes you need to attend
When identifying your training, it is important to consider the relevance and timeliness of the training to an individual. For example, in the area of fixed-term contracts, if you are a line manager but do not have any members of your team on a fixed term contract or are not likely to in the foreseeable future, this training would not currently be seen as appropriate.
