Your manager will have planned a programme for you to introduce you to your department and the university. We've also listed some things you might want to do during your first days at York.

Visit...
- Human Resources - If we haven't already done so, we need to check your right to work in the UK. You'll have received information about what you need to bring in your offer of employment, but if you're not sure ring us on 4835. Come to the HR office in Heslington Hall so we can take a copy of your documents for our records. We can also answer any other work-related questions you might have.
- the Security Centre to get an application form for a car parking permit, if you need one.

- the University and its plans and key policies
- how to book rooms, catering or travel
- teaching and research support
- key administrative and IT systems
- the University directory - you can search for staff and students by name, department, telephone extension or username. You can also configure your own entry.
- your department's website - find out more about your department by looking through its webpages.
- our staff development pages - to find training courses you are interested in or would help you in your new job. In particular, we offer a range of induction courses for new staff. Read our induction pages to find out more and to book a place.
