Updated procedure and guidance: managing ill-health and sickness absence

From February a revised policy/procedure and guidance on managing ill-health and sickness absence is in place.

The new policy has been agreed with the University's trade unions. It brings together the two previous policies on this issue: Sickness Absence and Ill Health (dismissal), and provides improved guidance on:

  • how to manage cases of frequent short term absence
  • what actions to take in cases of long term absence (over 4 weeks)
  • general matters relating to sickness absence
