I have a variety of roles in the Chemistry Department from teaching undergraduates, to science communication. I spend a fair amount of time working with schools. Before I worked here I was a schoolteacher, and during my PGCE I took a counselling course over two terms. I find that this modest training is helpful when listening to people's problems.
