The Internationalisation Steering Group

The role of the Internationalisation Steering Group is to oversee the development of the Internationalisation Strategy (PDF  , 83kb)  at York and to ensure that its objectives are embedded throughout the University.

The group is chaired by Professor John Local, PVC for Research. He says, “Internationalisation is high on the agenda of universities all around the world. This steering group must ensure that internationalisation at York means real actions and not just words, and I would like all colleagues - staff and students – to feel free to contact me directly with comments and ideas.”

The group meets once each term and current members are:

  • Hilary Layton, Director of Internationalisation and Internationalisation Champion
  • Hannah Brian, Vice Chancellor’s Executive Assistant 
  • Sandy Ritter, International Relations Manager
  • Dr Leandro Soares Indrusiak, Department of Computer Science 
  • Dr Elizabeth Tyler, Department of English and Related Literature, and Centre for Medieval Studies
  • Simon Willis, Director of Admissions and Student Recruitment
