Information for employers
The Student Internship Bureau (SIB) exists to create extra-curricular paid work experience opportunities for York students. We have two main schemes for our current students:
- Summer vacation scheme
Projects last between 6 and 12 weeks during the summer vacation (2nd July- 5th October 2012)
- Part-time internship scheme
This runs throughout the academic year, and can be of any duration, as long as the student doesn’t work for more than 16 hours per week whilst they are studying
Work must be of an appropriate standard and nature, must be project-based, with a tangible outcome for the host and intern.
Previous projects
Previous projects, which have produced significant benefits for the hosting company, have included:
- Drafting a suicide prevention strategy for a major Train Operating Company
- Producing a brand history for a leading UK tea brand
- Working on market and competitor research for an engineering services firm expanding into a new area of the market
- Overhaul of website, including the creation and maintenance of an online forum for a social enterprise
- Translation of key reports by one of our bilingual students
