Receiving and accepting an offer

Who is eligible?

You are eligible to apply for accommodation if you:

  • are an Undergraduate student;
  • are visiting the University of York from an educational institution abroad;
  • have accepted an Unconditional offer of a course place;
  • and have a place on a course arranged by the University of York Study Abroad team

We can only offer you accommodation for the official dates of your visit, these usually correspond to the University's term dates.  If you arrive earlier than the dates specified then book bed and breakfast accommodation at conferences.

As we are midway through the academic year, accommodation is limited and we can only offer you the types of accommodation that are currently available.

When to apply for accommodation

Visiting students with an Unconditional offer of a course place will receive an email containing details of how to enrol and apply for accommodation online.

It is important that we have your current email address.  Check the email account that you have registered with us regularly.

Please note:- students arriving in April for the Summer term will not be able to apply online. If you are an undergraduate visiting student due to arrive for the summer term 2012, please email accommodation@york.ac.uk

How to apply online (excludes students arriving for the Summer term)

Once you have received the email you can make an accommodation application online.

Log into e:Vision, where you will see the 'Apply for Accommodation' link.

You must choose the correct application form by selecting:

  1. the academic year that you will be arriving
  2. 'Individual'
  3. 'Attending for part of the year'

Select 'Any College'

Answer the following questions:

  • Select what dates you are visiting, the exact dates we offer you a room for will be confirmed in your offer letter.
  • Answer if you need an ensuite room.  If you do you must put reasons why you want us to consider this.  
  • Answer your preference regarding a catered room. 

Note that rooms are limited at this time of year so we can only offer rooms that we have available.

  • Include in the comments box any specific requirements you want considering e.g. finances/medical/welfare.

Receiving and accepting an offer

An offer will be sent to your University of York Google email address.

You must check your emails daily for an accommodation offer.

You will have 3 days to accept the accommodation offer. 

You will not need to pay a booking payment.
