Academic Registry

(c) John Houlihan

The Academic Registry is made up of four sections. These are the Academic Support Office, the Careers Service, Registry Services and Student Support Services.

Collectively, and in collaboration with other parts of the University, we contribute to improving the experience and success of University of York students and staff by:

  • addressing aspects of student life that can enhance learning and capability;
  • providing the support students need to deal with aspects of student life that can inhibit learning and the assurance of academic standards;
  • promoting and facilitating students' personal development and career planning;
  • contributing to the quality of teaching and learning, and;
  • providing the administrative underpinning for the student life cycle.

Student employability

Our Careers Service plays a leading role in enhancing student employability and delivering our employability strategy.

Student conduct and discipline

It is important to all in our community that we maintain a harmonious and reasonable social environment in which all can speak their minds without causing offence.  Occasionally however we have to use our powers under the Disciplinary Regulations to achieve this. The University also responds actively to cases of Bullying and Harassment.

Mitigating circumstances

If your ability to prepare for, or complete, an assessment or exam has been affected by ill health or other circumstances that go beyond the normal difficulties that students encounter you may be eligible to claim Mitigating Circumstances.
