Our life sciences subjects are ranked 55th in the world

We are in the top 100 in the world for the quality of our life sciences, according to the latest university rankings.

We are now ranked 55th – up from 71st last year, according to the 2015-2016 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

The rankings assess world-class universities across teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

Professor Brian Fulton, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, said: “I'm absolutely delighted to see this rise up the international rankings, reflecting the great research carried out by our life scientists.

“Our continuing investment in staff and facilities, and the encouragement of interdisciplinary thinking and working, can help to enhance the international impact of our research.

“However, it is the excellence of the individual research of colleagues that is recognised in this result.”
